The coking fly ash from coking process in Coking Plant had caused serious pollution on the environment. In this thesis, this study was based coke powder as raw material which was developed to activated carbons, which were of high practical values. And through further study activated carbon non-woven fabric was prepared by activated carbon, non-woven fabrics and adhesive. In this way, not only the coking fly ash was used as the secondary resources, but the environment was also protected.By orthogonal design, the optimal preparation processes that the coking fly ash was made of activated carbons were determined by the chemical activation with KOH and the physical activation with steam activation. And various factors which may affect the performance of activated carbon were systematically analyzed. The experiments show clearly the feasibility of preparation of activated carbon with the coking fly ash. The results demonstrates that a better activated carbon can be obtained from KOH activation, and the iodine capacity arrived at 874.3774 mg/g, which the iodine capacity 490.5215 mg/g by steam activation method. However, there are high cost and serious pollution in KOH activation. So the activated carbon by the steam activation method were selected for further study. In this study, the surface appearance and the chemical property of the activated carbons were analyzed by FTIR, SEM and XRD. The result shows that the number of oxygen groups and nitrogen groups increases, and so surface polarity increases in the activation process. After the activation, the product is mainly graphite-like crystallite. Further discussed that active carbon-nonwoven fabric was made with the material of the optimum process by the steam activation which manufacturing process was studied. And then its performance was evaluated. The result indicates when 20% of activated carbon concentration, 30% of adhesive concentration, the carbon capacity was 65.36%, the iodine capacity was 291.3541mg/g.These results suggest that: The coking fly ash can be made of activated carbons, which were of high practical values, and can be further made of molded sorbing material - non-woven fabrics. This does not only has opened up a new way for coking resource utilization, also have huge environmental, economic and social benefits.
