The Initial Speed of Methane Diffusion ("â–³P"), which is regarded as an important indicator of coal and gas outburst forecast, is influenced by many factors. Although the factors have been studied by many domestic and international scintiests, the systematic research on a number of factors is lack. This paper focuses on the Initial Speed of Methane Diffusion, which is influnenced by the five aspect factors such as dead space volume, temperature, particle size, moisture, ash. An experimental research and systematic data analysis have been offered by this paper, which pays more attention to the factors of dead space volume and temperature. As experimental studies on Initial Speed of Methane Diffusion, different test systems and experimental determinations have been made, which are under different dead space volumes, temperatures, particle sizes, moistures, ashes. With the increasement in dead space volume, researches show that Initial Speed of Methane Diffusion decrease. With the decreasement of coal particle size, researches show that Initial Speed of Methane Diffusion increase. With the increasement in coal moisture, researches show that Initial Speed of Methane Diffusion decrease. With the increasement in coal ash, researches show that Initial Speed of Methane Diffusion decrease. Although the temperature changes are able to affect the determination of Initial Speed of Methane Diffusion, it does not show the same regularity under the large temperature span. In order to make reliable conclusions, further studies are still needed.
