The gas is a gas geological body, gas occurrence and distribution is the result of tectonic evolution history, which is controled by structural complexity and tectonic stress field characteristics. Based on the gas geological theory, gas geological research on the 2# coal seam of Handan mining area, which has the vital significance for mine safety and efficient production.Gas distribution takes on obvious imbalance in this area, this paper analyzed the reasons caused this pattern from several aspects. Using geological evolution and tectonic gradual control theory, combining lots of actual measured gas material in production of mining area, analyzed control function of tectonic evolution on the Handan Mining Area gas formation, storage, transport, coverl;Combining previous research achievements, analyzed and discussed tectonic evolution and tectonic stress field evolution characteristics of Taihang. Studyed tectonic location of Handan Mining Area in regional tectonic and tectonic evolution and tectonic stress field characteristics in previous tectonic movement. Under the control of Taihang moutain's fault zone, NNE and NE fault development broader, beside the NNE and NE large and medium-sized fracture, gas released at different degree, gas content, gas emission and coal seam gas pressure are relatively low in a certain range nearby large and medium-sized fault. Based on the research of regional geological tectonic evolution and its control features, analyzed gas occurrence distribution features of Mining Area from the following aspects, such as structural mechanics causes, different shape structure, roof and floor lithology, coal buried deep, magmatic rocks intrusive, hydrological geology, depth of coal seam is the main controlling factor of affecting gas occurrence distribution of 2# coal seam in Handan Mining Area. According to"provision of controlling the coal and gas outburst"and gas geological rule of coal mine, forecasted the risk of coal and gas outburst for Linzhang and Tao 2 coal mine in 2# coal seam. Calculated gas resource of 2# coal seam in Handan Mining Area with gas geology map and volume method.
