Cold Gas Dynamic Spraying (CGDS) technology is a relatively new spraying process during which particles (typically 1-50μm in diameter) are accelerated to the velocities of the order of 500-1 OOOm/s in a supersonic jet of high-pressure gas. Temperature in Cold Gas Dynamic Spraying process is significantly lower than other spraying technologies, so it can avoid oxidation, grain growth, phase transformation, and no heat affected zone in coatings. Also the cold sprayed coating is a compact coating with high hardness, high density, low residual stress, low porosity and good coating-substrate adhesion, so it will be a good application for the future.Recently, with the development of technology and equipment, the technology of Cold Gas Dynamic Spraying (CGDS) has been widely used in preparation of the wear and corrosion coating, high temperature coating and so on. In this paper,304 stainless steel coating was deposited on the IF steel substrate by cold gas dynamic spraying, the coating have better wear resistance and corrosion resistance. However, coating cracking and interface cracking are also the main form of damage and failure to coating. They not only bring significant economic losses and serious security risks, but also result in whether it can be widely applied in practical application or not. Therefore, it is important to study mechanical properties (such as the elastic modulus), the bending and fracture behavior of coating. In this paper, the mechanical properties and the fracture behavior of cold sprayed 304 stainless steel coating were studied by the three-point bending test under different loads. Effect of heat treatment on microstructure and performance of 304 stainless steel coating by cold gas dynamic spray was also studied in this paper. It is expected to provide a theoretical basis for practical application of cold sprayed 304 stainless steel coating. The results showed that the appropriate heat treatment could improve microstructure and performance of 304 stainless steel coating, especially the binding property of particles in the internal of coating.
