Eco-city is an effective way for solving urban problems, and achieving urban sustainable development, becomes the future direction and strategic objectives of many cities.Most cities is facing the problem of fragile ecological environment and impoverished economy in the western region. It is particularly important that searching for a path which not broken ring environment, but also to promote the development of social and economic. Therefore, the western region to construct the ecological city, to achieve the harmonious development of social, economic and environment is more urgent than the eastern region that the natural environment is favorable conditions and the economy strong. Minle County in the Hexi Corridor desert-oasis, Gansu Province, the construction of ecological city in arid region is profound changes in urban development patterns and a particular good practice on the concept of ecological urban in the western region under the conditions.This paper summarizes and analyzes the theory and practice of eco-city, and studies the similarities and differences between domestic and international, and analyzes the shortcomings and future directions in the construction of ecological city in China. The main research and work based the practice of building ecological city in Minle County to do the following:The first, using the AHP method and the ArcGIS to analyzes the remote sensing data of environmental factors, and superposition calculations. Assessing the result of ecological suitability and dividing the ecological function zoning of Minle County; Secondly, reasonably adjusting and arranging the system of green landscape and the eco-industrial. Then building the social security system that the ecological city sustainable must be needed.
