Analysis of landscape pattern is an investigative core in landscape ecology study. The landscape change has great influence on sustainable development of society and economy, and it is also an important component of global environment changes. In addition, study on driving factors of landscape changes is vital for us to understand the essential of landscape changes.In the paper, employing theory and method of landscape ecology, the three remote sensing images in 2003,2008 and 2010 were interpreted through the collation and analysis of the field investigation and historical data. On the basis of the interpretation maps, the landscape status of Tangshan bay three islands in Hebei province was analyzed. The software of ArcGIS was also applied to analyze the remote sensing images to obtain the chart of landscape classification on this region in the three periods. Based on that, the dynamic changes of landscape type in the three islands of Tangshan Bay were analyzed through the landscape pattern index, transferring matrix, and changing speed. In addition, the landscape pattern changes and their driving factors were researched. The result showed that:The landscape of Tangshan bay three islands changed significantly during the period from 2003 to 2010. From 2003 to 2008, the main landscape change of Shijiutuo Island was that forest reduced substantially. The decreasing area was up to 70.03 hm~2 which dropped by 56.46 percent. Meanwhile, complex was the transformation of land utilization type on Yuetuo Island. The area that mudflat transformed into inland water was the largest, which was up to 71.85hm~2. From 2008 to 2010, the tendency of landscape changes in Shijiutuo Island was that the area of grassland which transformed into forest was quite large; and the range of landscape changes in Yuetuo Island was very small, whose shift area was less than 10 hm~2. According to the landscape pattern index in studying area during the three periods,the changing trend of landscape pattern index in the three islands was almost consistent: the area of the single patch decreased,the complexity of it increased a little bit,the mean distance between the patches reduced,the Interspersion Index changed a lot , the landscape diversity increased, and the evenness changed unnoticeable,which indicated that the disturbances in this area continued increasing in the period,and the landscape fragmentation increased with time.The main cause about landscape changes on Tangshan bay three islands during the period from 2003 to 2010 was human factor, which mainly included tourism exploitation of human activities, the national and local policy adjustment, changing way of island utilization and so on.
