Stripping is a pretreatment technology which is used before the second painting after thedestruction; the key is preparation of environmentally friendly paint strippers. With theimprovement of people's environmental consciousness, environmental friendly and efficientnon toxic paint stripper will be the direction of development.According to the Principe of organic compounds with similar solubility and mutuallysoluble, a solvent based paint stripper for food–can tinplates was prepared with constantmagnetic stirring, in which phenyl ethanol and ethanol compound as the primary solvent,CTMAB as surfactant, lactic acid as accelerator. Organic reagents on the stripper performancewere studied, as well as temperature, stirring rate on the stripping efficiency. What's more, theperformance, volatility and corrosion protection of paint stripper were investigated. The resultsshowed that, when the composition was as follows (mass fraction): phenyl ethanol for 21%,ethanol for 49%, CTMAB for 2% and lactic acid for 28%, at 80~85℃in 3~5min, the paintstripper on the 2×2cm2 of the oil based plates, background plates, metallic ink plates andpolishing varnish plates of tin plates removal rate was from 99% to 100%.According to hydrolysis principle, an inorganic alkaline paint stripper was prepared with theconstant temperature water bath condition,in which NaOH as the primary solvent, CTMAB assurfactant, urea as co solvent,1,2 propanediol as auxiliaries. The effects of the type and amountof the primary solvent, surfactant, co solvent and auxiliaries on the stripper efficiency werediscussed, as well as the volatility and corrosion protection of paint stripper. The results showedthat when NaOH for 5g, CTMAB for 0.3g, urea for 0.6g, 1,2 propanediol for 0.2g, at 70~75℃in3 ~ 5min the film was softened and removed,the paint stripper had good stripping efficiency,low volatile and corrosive.IR and SEM were used to prove that the paint stripper did not react with coating film, and itcould be reused.
