Aramid fiber is respectively modified by low-temperature oxygen plasma and atmospheric plasma. Plasma treatment makes aramid fiber surface roughness increases, and the -COOH group was incorporated on the fiber surface. The final study is the effect of surface treatment on the compound performance between aramid fiber and rubber. The main research contents have the following five parts:(1) Low temperature plasma processing aramid fiber surface. There are the effect of low temperature oxygen plasma treatment on the adhesion property between aramid fiber and rubber with different treatment power and treatment time. The results showed that the -COOH group was incorporated on the fiber surface after plasma treatment. It was found from SEM that there was obviously etching on the surface of the fiber after plasma treatment. The optimum plasma treatment conditions of aramid fiber were 30Pa, 50W, 60s.(2) Atmospheric plasma processing aramid fiber surface. Using ordinary pressure plasma, choose different processing power continuous dynamic treatment on aramid fiber surface, using scanning electron microscope and atomic force microscope to show its surface characterization, dynamic contact Angle apparatus can test its surface wettability. Using XPS surface characterization technique analysis the surface chemistry changes between original sample and plasma processing samples. The results showed that the -COOH group was incorporated on the fiber surface after plasma treatment. Results show that: the greater roughness of the fiber surface , the better wettability, and the better combination ability with the rubber. Optimum processing condition: ordinary pressure, power for 30W, time for 60s.(3) Silane coupling agent KH-550 processing aramid fiber and modified aramid fiber. Using atmospheric plasma to modify aramid fiber for different power processing, respectively aramid fibers and plasma processing sample surface modification by silane coupling agent KH - 550, and transform different concentration and time. After silane coupling agent, adhesive performance have a certain degree of increase between original sample or plasma processing samples with rubber. Optimum processing condition: plasma treatment for atmospheric pressure condition, processing power for 75W, the processing time for 60s, the concentration of KH-550 for 5%, the processing time for 5h , adhesion performance between fiber and rubber is the best.(4) Compoundind aramid fiber and modified aramid fiber with two kinds of rubber respectively, and adopting different gum dipping, experimental results show that different rubber and viscous system also has influence in composite performance between aramid fiber and rubber. So the best processing conditions for experiment rubber, double bath soak glue, atmospheric plasma processing power for 75W, the processing time for 60s, silane coupling agent concentration for 5%, the processing time for 5h.We have researched on the surface elements and functional group, surface morphology and surface roughness and surface infiltration of the current most widely used and best performance organic aramid fiber after low temperature plasma and atmospheric plasma processing. Adopting the plasma and silane coupling agent composite treatment can improve the effect, then we obtain the best processing conditions.
