Study of liquid loading in natural gas gathering line on complex ground condition is very important to engineering design and operation management of natural gas pipeline. This paper is to research the mechanism, effect factor of liquid loading and liquid holdup theoretics in gas-liquid flow, on basis of the experiment in hilly terrain and low liquid loading pipeline. The factor affected liquid loading mechanism including the component and physical characters of gas-liquid flow, the pipeline geometries and the experimental operation. At first, mechanism of liquid loading is explored, and then factor of gas-liquid flow pattern and liquid holdup theoretics in pipeline is also studied.Gas-liquid transient model is established based on two-phase flow model (TFM). In this section, continuation equations and momentum equations are separately established to gas-phase and liquid-phase. Besides, two-phase interaction is considered. BWRS equation is applied to calculate gas-liquid physical characters and the Fourth Runge-Kutta method is used to solve the model. The experiment is operated in gas-liquid flow simulation laboratory in China University of Petroleum (East China). The gas-liquid flow operation is working in hilly terrain and low liquid loading pipeline. The model and OLGA simulation software are applied to experimental data processing, and the conclusion is compared to experimental test finally, which verified the feasibility of the model.
