Laser cladding,an advanced forming and surfacing technology, has a wide application. In this thesis, the control of laser cladding process and its detection software system are investigated. The main achievements are as follows:1. In order to achieve laser cladding automation, to avoid the unpredictability of laser cladding's result, and to overcome the shortcome of "trial and error" method, a control system for laser cladding is designed and its integration software system is developed.2. Using Visual C + +6.0, OpenGL 3D graphics development technologies, ADO database technology, HNUCFARP rapid prototyping software system is developed, and a primary software for laser cladding forming and remanufacturing is presented.3. With Object-oriented design principles and methods, the neural network expert system is developed for prediction and optimization of laser cladding process parameters and establishment of neuro-fuzzy control system.4. CCD-based non-contact detection system for laser cladding pool shape and size is designed, its unique analysis software is developed. Using the system, the clear shape and precise size of melt pool are gained.5. With this real-time detection system based on CCD, effects of process parameters such as scanning speed, powder feed rate and defocus on the width of the melt pool in the single-pass laser cladding are investigated.6. Using some samples to train the neural network systemand others to test the trained network, it is found that the max error is 1.191%, which shows that the neural network prediction is fairly accurate.
