Laser Cladding Rapid Manufacturing (LCRM), which is the integration of laser cladding theory and rapid prototype technology, is a new rapid prototype technology. Using laser to melt the synchronous metal powder, part is produced by melting metal powder layer by layer on a substrate. Compared with the traditional manufacturing technology, it has some special advantages.On the base of cladding theory and rapid prototype technology, it focuses on the scan mode of LCRM. The research includes: First, analyze the problem of powder system used currently. Design one kind of spring float pressure device according to correlative theories and the knowledge of machine designing. This improvement ensures uniformity of powder, meanwhile use small-bore pipe and three link mechanism to enhance constrict and linearity of powder stream and to ensure the orientation. Subsequently, in order to solve the problem of synchronization of laser and powder, the rapid powder switch is designed based on the principle that air pressure can change the direction of powder. And then carry out a series of experiments with the improved powder system, including: optimization of single-layer cladding process parameters, confirmation of multi-layer cladding rate. And get the suitable range of parameters by analyzing macroscopical pattern, microscopic structure and hardness distributing of produced part. On the base of the experiments finished above, design the scan mode for the rotative thin part and the thin part with free section shape. Then using experiments and analysis of macroscopical pattern, microscopic quality, the correctness of scan is confirmed. Finally, design three scan modes for the solid part. One kind of software is developed for automatic generating the Pmac movement program according to the shape of selected layer and the selected scan modes. The production of Pyramid part validates the reasonable of the three scan modes.
