In recent years, with the adjustment of industrial structure in rural areas, and the rapid development of livestock and poultry industry, pesticides and chemical fertilizers were used excessively, agricultural rejectamenta were wasted away randomly, as a result, agricultural non-point source pollution has become increasingly serious. The formation of agricultural non-point source pollution was influenced by a series of features, such as, the regional geographical conditions, climatic conditions, soil structure, the way of land use, vegetation cover and precipitation process. It was characteristiced by hign randomicity, and wide range of distribution, vague formation mechanism, strong potential and difficult to control and management. The occurrence of non-point source pollution is not only the source of drinking water pollution, but also the source of surface water eutrophication and groundwater pollution. The non-point source pollution has posed serious threat to the regional ecological environment and human health.Three Gorges reservoir area is typical of China's ecologically fragile areas and environmentally sensitive areas. The special conditions of the ecological environment is conducive to the occurrence of non-point source pollution. Agricultural non-point source pollutants in the water pollution in the Three Gorges reservoir area occupies a significant proportion. Especially after the Three Gorges Reservoir, the Yangtze River water flow slowed down, reducing the capacity of the water environment in the reservoir area and water self-purification ability. Three Gorges reservoir area of the agricultural non-point source pollution possess more conditions of occurrence, more extensive and larger potential sources of pollutants load. Thus it may occur serious agricultural non-point source pollution in the reservoir area, or it will be a huge security threat for the water environment of the Three Gorges Reservoir and the whole ecological environment.In this paper, the basic theory of non-point source pollution is sorted out, and then make detailed description and analysis of the current situation, characteristics and management of agricultural non-point source pollution in the Three Gorges reservoir area on the basis of literature research and field research. After that the paper points out the the main issues of control and management of non-point source pollution in the Three Gorges reservoir area. Finally combined with the practice and exploration of agricultural non-point source pollution in developed countries, the paper put forward a series of control measures and recommendations of agricultural non-point source pollution in the Three Gorges Reservoir area.
