Phthalocyanines with large stable conjugatedπelectric system, have many special characteristics and outstanding stability, so that they are widely used as dye and pigment, data-recording and PDT, etc. In recent years, their special optical properties show potentials in the high tech applications as novel functional materials, molecular-scale devices. Thereafter,"Mechanism oriented design methodology for photo- controllable aggregation system"was proposed based on the review of our studies on photochromic compounds. In this paper, we investigated the influence to the assemble properties of phthalocyanines caused by center cations, substituents and solvents in order to provide a new decent path for our Mechanism. The main contents are following:1. According to the"Template Method", a series of phthalocyanines of IIA and IIB was prepared and characterized using phthalonitrile and their derivatives as fragments and DBU as catalyst.2. Many UV-Vis spectras and Fluorescence spectras were measured for main evidences. According to the results, the factors which can improve the the intensity of the assembly including: a cation with full-filled electronic shell inside(such as a cation from IIA and IIB group), an adjacent oxygen atom at theα-position(stronger than other kinds of coordinating reagents) and solvents with a high dielectric constant(ε). The J-aggregates are thermodynamically stable.3. Investigations on the novel properties of CaPc and CdPc assembly have been carried out. They have stronger tendency to aggregate but less stability than their light analogues from the same group.
