As a kind of martensite stainless steels, 2Cr13 stainless steel has good comprehensive properties, so it has been widely used in many fields, such as the pump in the marine environment, axle and pull rod of steam equipment, medical devices and family tableware, etc. In order to meet all technical functions as required, it gradually becomes a kind of important method to add other alloying elements in stainless steel to improve the comprehensive properties of the steel. Rare earth elements have the function of purifying quality of steel, improving the inclusions, micro-alloying, improving the properties of cast steel and they have good antibacterial properties, belong to low toxic substances,so the application of rare earth elements in stainless steel are more and more widely.2Cr13 stainless steel was the research object in this study, the rare earth element Ce with wide applications was added in the 2Cr13 steel. In order to get the appropriate residue amount of Ce, Fe-Ce intermediate alloy rather than pure Ce was added in the 2Cr13 stainless steel in smelting, then the steel was forged and heat treated in this study. The effects of rare earth Ce on the microstructure, mechanical properties, corrosion resistance and antibiotic property of the 2Cr13 stainless steel were researched in the experiment, at last the action mechanism of Ce in the 2Cr13 stainless steel was analysised. The results show that the method of adding Fe-Ce intermediate alloys in 2Cr13 stainless steel can make the rare earth Ce yield reach over 35%.The position of phase regions in phase diagram of Fe-Fe3C can be influenced when dding rare earth Ce in the 2Cr13 stainless steel, Ce also can effectively reduce the carbide segregation and precipitation in 2Cr13 steel, Ce mainly exists in the matrix in the form of compounds. The hardness and the tensile properties of the 2Cr13 stainless steel are both reduced at room temperature, when the content of Ce is more than 0.28%. The corrosion resistance of 2Cr13 Ce stainless steel is better than the property of the 2Cr13 stainless steel, but the content of Ce is not the more the better. In this experiment, when the Ce content is 0.28%, the corrosion resistant of 2Cr13 stainless steel is the best. The 2Cr13 stainless steel has long-lasting antibacterial property when Ce is contained in the steel, and the content of Ce has something to do with antibacterial property of 2Cr13 stainless steel, when the content of Ce is 0.28%, 2Cr13 stainless steel has good antibacterial property, if continue to increase the content of Ce to 1.39%, it has little influence on the antibacterial property, but the performance of microstructure, mechanical property and corrosion resistance will be degraded. In the range of the experiment, in order to get the good comprehensive performances, the best percentage of rare earth Ce is 0.28% in 2Cr13 stainless steel.
