Conical ring with outer steps rolling is an advanced but much complex incremental material forming process with multi-factors coupling interactive effects, it combined geometrically nonlinear and physical nonlinear, the boundary conditions showed complexity, instability and dynamic changes. So the study on conical ring with outer steps materials flow is difficulty, and during the forming, it is difficulty to control the guide roller motion. All the factor limit the application of this technology. This paper analysis the rolling condition systematic, aimed to the guide roller control difficulty in FEA, based on the ABAQUS/Explicit,this paper developed VUAMP subroutine to control the guide roller motion. And put forwarded the blank design method for conical ring with outer steps, established the FEA model, analysis the materials flow during the rolling, and study the key parameters effect on spread, PEEQ, rolling force and rolling moment.The result shows that:①VUAMP subroutine to insure the guide roller adapt to the outer diameter of the ring, it can insurance the ring rolling steady and correct the .roundness, it can insurance the rolling and enhance the quality of the ring.②The blank design of the conical ring with outer steps can follow the rules of shape similitude theory, equal in cross-section and equal in volume theory. During the design, the technology of blank takes into account, and the optimized blank can be modify to meet the require of blank of conical ring with outer steps.③The result of ring rolling shows that the process can be divided into three phases, which is cross-section forming, diameter increasing and roundness modifying. In initial stage, the ring rolling focus on the cross-section forming; after that, the diameter increasing sharply. During the later stage, the idle roller feed was stop, and rolling in roundness modify phase.④During the ring rolling, the maximum and the minimum spread of big end and small end changing trend shows similarity, and it decreasing during the idle feed increasing, and it increasing while the driver rotation increasing.⑤The PEEQa and the SDP changing trend shows similarity, it is similarity to the spread. And the bigger idle feed spread and smaller driver rotation spread is benefit to uniform of the sections.⑥The rolling force and rolling moment increasing while the idle feed spread increasing, and decreasing while the driver rotation increasing.Based on the FEA method, the deformation mechanisms of conical ring with outer steps rolling can be mastered. And the idle roller and driver roller can be controls to enhance the quality of the ring, optimized control the guild roller motion can insurance the rolling stability. This technology can improve the materials utilization rate, reduce the amount of finish and working hours, enhance the property of the ring to meet the aerospace and aviation area's need.
