Ring rolling is a specialized rolling processing technic to manufacture seamless rings, in which the diameter of the ring increases as the ring cross-section decreases. It has many advantages such as saving labour and energy, increasing utilization ratio of material, raising productivity and saving the cost of production. Now ring rolling is used widely in many industrial domains.Forming ring rolling processing technic comes down to many problems, including calculating and setting process parameters. The traditional method of establishing the forming ring rolling processing technic has much unavoidable defect; such as inefficiency and high cost in processing technic design. In this thesis, a set of system for designing forming ring rolling processing technic- RollCAPP 1.0 is exploited in Windows2000, which can avoid the problem.The system RollCAPPl.O is based on the Unigraphics software. By making use of UG/Open API, compiling and running the programmer in VC++, an independence procedure is set in Unigraphics seamlessly. In this system an item needed is embeded in Unigraphics menu, and by selecting the ring you want in the cascade menu, you can input the initialization parameters in pop-up dialog box. When the parameters are affirmed, this information is transferred to VC to be compiled and run, and then the results are obtained. After transferring the graphics function in Unigraphics, three-dimensional geometry model is established, and the information obtained in forgoing dialog box are quoted in the following dialog box continuously. The system includes five parts: forging parts design, rough design, clava design, process parameter design and model design.The system RollCAPPl.O realizes the ring rolling processing technicdesign, in which parameters interact with each other. Compared with manpower design, this system not only avoids the burden and defect brought by handwork, but also realizes dimension-driven drawing and automatic design by using of the part library information. With the help of this system, the ring rolling process design cycle is cut down, and the shortest design period only needs one or two minutes.
