Along with the economic and social progress, the quality of textile material and safety performance is more and more receives the attention of the consumers. Viscose fiber is a kind of regenerated cellulose fibers with a long history. Viscose fiber with excellent serviceability and good human body affinity and loved by people, they are widely used in all kinds of textile material. Viscose fiber’s main disadvantages is low wet strength and flammable characteristic which largely limits its application range.Melamine resin is used as paper wet strength agent for a long history. It also has excellent flame retardant properties. In this paper, We prepared the modified melamine resin with good flexibility and stability. Using melamine resin blended with viscose as spinning dope, we gained a kind of flame retardant performance and high wet strength viscose fiber.First, in order to improve melamine-formaldehyde resin’s stability and flexibility, melamine-formaldehyde resin was modified by glutaraldehyde and PVA and coupling agent of organic titanate(MS-200). The results showed that the optimum process condition of glutaraldehyde modified melamine resin is that:the molar ratio of melamine and formaldehyde is 1:2.5, polymerization systems solid content is 50%, reaction temperature 80℃ and glutaraldehyde additive proportion is 6%. The optimum process condition of polyvinyl alcohol(PVA) modified melamine resin is that:the molar ratio of melamine and formaldehyde is 1:2.5, polymerization systems solid content is 50%, reaction temperature 80℃ and glutaraldehyde additive proportion is 2%. The optimum process condition of MS-200 modified melamine resin is that:the molar ratio of melamine and formaldehyde is 1:2.5, polymerization systems solid content is 50%, reaction temperature 80℃ and glutaraldehyde additive proportion is 2%.Second, the modified melamine resin viscose composite membrane was prepared and tested. The results showed that:glutaraldehyde modified melamine resin viscose composite membrane’s mechanical strength increased 36.2% and limit oxygen index (LOI) is 26.4% under resin viscosity for 200 mPa*s. PVA modified melamine resin viscose composite membrane’s mechanical strength increased 19.1% and limit oxygen index (LOI) is 25.3% under resin viscosity for 200 mPa*s. MS-200 modified melamine resin viscose composite membrane’s mechanical strength increased 22.8% and limit oxygen index (LOI) is 27.5% under resin viscosity for 200 mPa*s.Last, the modified melamine resin viscose fiber was prepared and tested. The results showed that:glutaraldehyde, PVA, MS-200 modified resin viscose fiber wet strength respectively increase 14.4%,6.3%,10.8%. Glutaraldehyde, PVA, MS-200 modified resin viscose fiber limited oxygen index(LOI) is 24.2%,23.1%,25.3%. Modified fiber wet strength and limited oxygen index has improved greatly than normal fiber. |
