This paper briefly introduces the properties and uses of ethyl acetate and chloroform. During the process of pesticide production, a mixture of ethyl acetate and chloroform can be produced. Because the two substances form the highest azeotrope mixture, it is hard to use the common distillation to separate them. This passage puts forward two separation schemes, extractive distillation and azeotropic distillation and optimize the operation parameters respectively.Firstly through extractant screening methods, selected some suitable extraction agents, using simulation software and vapor liquid equilibrium select extraction agent, we choose ethylene glycol as extraction agent to separate the mixture of ethyl acetate and chloroform. The Aspen Plus software examines the theoretical plate number, extraction agent and raw material into material position, volume ratio, the top of the feed, reflux ratio and the six factors effects on the separation effect. The results showed that the purity of ethyl acetate was 99.99wt% and the yield was 99.52% under the optimized conditions. After optimizing the parameters of solvent recovery tower, the purity of chloroform was 99.88wt%, and the yield was 99.87%.Secondly by entrainer screening method to screen out the appropriate azeotropic agent, we choose water as azeotropic agent for the separation of chloroform and ethyl acetate, The Aspen Plus software examine the theoretical plate number, azeotropic agent and raw material into material position, the top of the feed, reflux ratio and the six factors effects on the separation effect. The results showed that under the optimum conditions, the purity of chloroform was 97.23 wt%, the yield of chloroform was 96.60%, and the heat load of the tower was 28.35kw.Compared with two separation schemes, the final choice was a total of azeotropic distillation separation scheme, and verify by the experiment. The results show that choosing the water as entrainer separation of chloroform and ethyl acetate, purity 95.13wt% of toluene was obtained at the tower top output by distillation process, and also the purify 96.7wt% ethyl acetate below was got.Process package, which contains design skills, design premise and process instructions was designed in this paper. And the profile of process package, the device size, raw material specification, performance index and reactor design were included in design skills. Also, the technique programs, operating conditions, process flow diagram(PID), layout of equipment, instrument diagram, process piping and apparatus list were described in the illustrates.In this paper, the separation of ethyl acetate and chloroform are discussed and process package was designed which provided the basis for further pilot experiments.
