Modern industry demand steel with higher quality. In the continuous casting, electromagnetic stirring has been comprehensively applied as means to improve the quality of products.There are many facts that influence the effect of electromagnetic stirring in the continuous casting, such as species, stirrer installation site, electromagnetic parameter and structure parameter. But the major factor is the electromagnetic parameter. How to optimize the electromagnetic parameter in electromagnetic stirring is an important object.The present subject base the EMS and FEMS of small billet continuous casting. The two-dimension and three-dimension calculation modeling of EMS and FEMS were established base on the finite element theory. Corresponding programs of mold EMS and FEMS in continuous casting were written by ANSYS parameter design language (APDL). The distribution of electromagnetic field, electromagnetic force field and the behavior of fluid flow were simulated respectively.The electromagnetic stirrer typical position result of electromagnetic field using ANSYS software measuring accord with the measuring result. The simulation results show that we got the obvious effect at the central location of stirrer, and it decrease along z-direction to the end of stirrer. The magnetic induction and electromagnetic force from the top to the end of the stirrer was increased monotonous or the location of peak near to the exit of stirrer. We have considered the effect on the thickness of solidification and neglected the molten steel flow on the impact of the magnetic field in the flow field calculation. The electromagnetic force make steel fluid whirl in horizontal plane with reducing downward velocity and boost vortex. Over the stirring area, horizontal rotating velocity decreases gradually. Rotating velocity increases with the increase of electricity and electrical frequency which distribution has two peak values near wall.On the basis of simulation results of electromagnetic stirring, combine the measured data with the effect of quality under different electromagnetic stirring parameters, it could provide witness for production. At the same time we got the distribution of electromagnetic field, electromagnetic force and flow field in the hemicycle electromagnetic stirrer by simulation. We also got the relation between configuration parameter, processing parameter and electromagnetic filed, flow field.
