The noise pollution is getting more and more serious and the complaints from residents are also increasing as the development of urban. In order to monitor the noise distribution better, researchers proposed the concept of noise mapping. British drew the first city traffic noise map of London, and other Western European countries, such as France, Germany as well as some cities in China are also planning this work. The noise mapping is renewed on a yearly basis (i.e. noise mapping of London was renewed every five years). The main purpose of this issue is attempt to study the real-time noise mapping and developed a embedded network acquisition system based on S3C2440 chips which is capable of multi-channel collection and use cable networks and GPRS wireless networks for data transmission. The researchers use this system to transfer the noise signals Collected by microphone and the geographic information gathered via GPS to specify FTP (File Transfer Protocol). Then software in server regularly scans the data received and shown those data in the form of noise maps.Firstly, this paper analyzes the selection and the design of components in the embedded network, then introduce the tailor and transplant for bootloader and embedded linux. It also introduces the designs of device drivers and the PC software. Finally, we generated the real-time noise mapping in the national library of the Chinese academy at half past fifteen May 8,2010.This subject could be a useful attempt to noise control and distribution of urban architecture design and the corresponding regulations state noise monitoring on the formulation.
