With the increase of rotating speed of rotary and power of rotary machine, the dynamic performance of the rotor-bearing system has been more and more becoming the determinant of the performance of rotary machine. This dissertation took a study on the transfer matrix method and lumped mass method which are widely used in rotor dynamics and made a detailed dynamics analysis to the high pressure rotor of an air compressor.The dissertation consists of four parts.Part one introduced the significance and source of the study, and the developing historical and litter acture were researched and reviewed.Part two made a study on the transfer matrix method. Based on the method,a computer program of calculating rotor's critical speed was compiled, and some numerical examples were calculted,the results are in accordance with the theoretical solution pretty well.Part three introduced the lumped mass method.The process of setting up the dynamics equations of rotor-bearing system and the solution of the equations were introduced detailed.In the parts four,as the application of theory, the dynamic properties of high pressure rotor of an air compressor was calculated and analysied, a way to reduce the vibration of air compressor was presented.
