Vector hydrophones can measure the sound pressure and the vibration velocity of the point where was measured in the sound field, get the sound intensity, then express the sound field information completely. This paper looked back the development history of the vector hydrophone and sound intensity technology, and did some helpful research by using the vector hydrophone and sound intensity technology.To resolve the problem of calibrate the low-frequency sound source in the laboratory, this paper use the scan sound intensity to calibrate the low-frequency sound source. This paper contains two parts: one part is to develop vector hydrophones to used as sound intensity probes; another part is to study the method of calibrate the low-frequency sound source in the laboratory.This paper designed two sound intensity probes (the vector hydrophone within sound pressure channel), simple I and simple II, to measure sound intensity. The results, measured in the standing wave tube and the pool, show that the capability of simple II is better than another, with the sizeφ24×80( mm), and the essentially flat response between 20Hz—500Hz. This hydrophone has the advantages of small volume, high sensitivity and easy to hang. Base on the simple II, the paper made out three hydrophones to combine a vector hydrophone array.This paper theoretical analyzed astringency of the sound energy on the scanning surface, selected the parallelepiped and cylinder as the scanning surface. In the noise elimination pool, the paper calibrated the low-frequency sound source using one hydrophone to scan along the parallelepiped and cylinder and using vector hydrophone array to scan along the cylinder, get a good result. This paper get a good result in the research of calibrating the power of the low-frequency sound source by vector hydrophones and sound intensity measurement technology, have a reference to calibrating the low-frequency sound source at the future.
