For the convenience of water transport, coastal countries have built their ports. And supported wharf berthing port is a common structure, which is used under deep water condition. The lower part is embedded into foundation under water and concrete structure is used in the upper part. Since many of the ports are in the earthquake zone, a seismic design is employed to make them have certain anti-seismic capability which is rather important for this structure. With China's rapid economic development and acceleration of economic globalization, ports play a increasingly prominent role in national economy. Due to its great depth piles, seismic response is very large in earthquake which likely to cause pile damage, resulting in the destruction of the whole terminal. Large-scale construction and seismic research is lagging behind which inevitably increase the potential Seismic Risk of ports. The seismic design of supported wharf is very important in our nation. In this paper, the author compares and analyses China, Japan, the United States code for seismic design of the supported wharf and points out that each design differences to facilitate relevant personnel comprehensive understanding of Japan and the United States pile supported wharf seismic design status, also to facilitate our country code for seismic design of revision and the field of international development direction standards. Contents of the study include the following aspects:(1) the research background and profound meaning of the paper are introduced. The development of seismic design method is mentioned as well as destruction forms of supported wharf.(2) The design methods of China, Japan, and America codes are introduced in this paper. The article introduces the each country of pile supported wharf seismic design process, mainly concentrated in the pile of calculation depth, structure vibration cycle earthquake inertial force, and section check.(3) Base on the seismic design of pile supported wharf and calculation of the content, comparative analyze China,Japan and America with supported wharf seismic design process and the requirements states regulate the similarities and differences. The results show that the method used in China code is inferior to the other countries', such as multiple design of seismic fortification, ductility design, deformation checking, etc. The research on seismic design method should be improved while we are learning advanced techniques of seismic design of the pile supported wharf.
