As the high speed of urbanization, growth of population and social development in recent years, tall buildings and high-rise buildings are brought into a Period of Prosperity recent years. Wind load is one of the control loads of tall buildings. It is necessary to do some research work on engineering design criteria in case of strong wind in order to reduce loss of wind disaster. In this paper, based on the background of the practical measured wind data, investigation and discuss on the wind load of the tall building is carried out in this thesis. The research mainly includes several sections, such as main differences in wind load standards of different countries are summarized firstly. Wind speed samples have been carried out in different way, Extreme wind velocity was predicted using different extreme value distribution models based on different samples, and compared with calculated results.(1)This thesis introduces the basic knowledge of the wind and the current wind load standards of china firstly, contrasting the wind load code of China,Japan,America,Australia and England.(2)The compound extreme value distribution mode, the extreme theory and pearson-Ⅲdistribution are introduced.(3)Then a statistical analysis was made for the practical measured wind data of 26 years somewhere and the data were processed under sixteen wind directions. Extreme wind velocity was predicted using Gumbel extreme value distribution models and compound extreme value distribution models based on different samples. The calculated results were analyzed according to the current wind load standards in china, and the extreme wind velocity was obtained for different directions. Upon the comparison with the results from the current code, the proposed solution can reduce the defence wind velocity reasonably, and make the practical design more economic and reasonable. Compared with single-factor fitting method, result of compound extreme value distribution model, the Possion-Gumbel extreme value distribution model is suggested with relatively small error and better stability comparing with the result of traditional single-factor fitting model and its advantage in sampling。A new method for extreme wind velocity prediction considering wind direction is suggested. Different methods for predict extreme wind velocity along one direction are compared, including methods from criterion domestic and abroad.
