The concept of integrated electric propulsion system is proposed based on the development of electric propulsion.That the system is called integrated electric propulsion system, mainly refers to that electrical system and power system are integrated as an inseparable unit since the ship were propulsed by electricity, and that all the mechanical energy on board are converted into electricity, which provides the power of propulsion and other household equipment, realizing the unity of energy utilization and management. The system includes power generation, transmission, distribution, conversion, propulsion, drive, and so on.Based on the design of integrated electric propulsion system for twin hull, the paper conduct a more comprehensive analysis about some special and key issues such as:capacity of determination,choice of motor and transducer, protection design of the system, suppression of the harmonic, power management, etc.The paper not only introduces the whole design process, but also determines the configuration of power system protection based on the particular calculation of integrated power system short-circuit current,meanwhile,makes analyses and comparison between two different control theory in variable frequency control (vector control and direct torque control).Through theoretic analyses and calculations of the whole design process of this integrated electric propulsion system, the paper ultimately concludes the basic idea and method of such a system and the design of the ship's integrated power system.
