Volume will expand during the phase transformation of freezing, the volume of ice will be inflated too in the process of heating-up. This article discusses the latter.In the cold winter, when temperature in ice cover is increased, which will generate a thermal expansion. If there is a restriction on the edge of the cover, there will be thermal stress in it, accordingly the cover will perform a pressure on the restriction. In some cases, the stress is large enough to threaten the safety of the structures. Therefore, we should pay more attention to it.On the basis of analyzing mode and mechanism of the ice thermal expansive pressure, this paper mainly makes a study from the following aspects.(1)By searching the related documents home and abroad, we should learn about the basic theory of ice thermal expansive pressure, and grasp the direction of development of ice thermal expansive pressure.(2)According to the example of engineering practice, this article builds up the three-dimensional finite model of aqueduct through the use of ANSYS.(3)Using the ice creep model, this work deals with nonlinear solution of temperature and thermal stress field by the finite element, and calculate the thermal stress in the ice layer with two different methods, then make an analysis in allusion to the ice thermal stress in different thickness of ice layer and the calefactive time.
