With the rapid development of our country's economy, people's requirement for quality of life is higher and higher, and for travel tools, automobile, is increasingly bigger, too. At the same time, automobile's safety is an important problem that has to be considered. And automotive wiring harnesses are the network subjects of automotive circuit, how to guarantee their quality is one problem must be faced. The research of wiring harness detection in the United States, Japan and other developed countries is in a leading position. The automotive wiring harness detection instruments produced in these countries have more functions, but they are very expensive, less flexible and have some shortages in localization. While some domestic manufacturers, their wiring harness detection instruments are cheaper, but have some shortages in function, aesthetics and humanization. Therefore, it is necessary to design an automotive wiring harness detection system, which can meet domestic manufacturers'requirements, has more functions, artistic style, humanity design, and flexibility.This thesis researched the fault types and detection principles of wiring harness, analyzed the demand of automotive wiring harness detection system, presented overall structure of automotive wiring harness detection system, designed software and hardware of the system, and finally installed and debugged the system.The system developed from the following aspects:improving detecting speed, enhancing system flexibility, reliving detecting worker's labor intensity, and realizing human-machine interaction, data tracking and detection results printing. Based on the demand of automotive wiring harness detection system, used Mitsubishi's FX2N type PLC as core part, and GX Developer, FameView configuration software and SQL Server database as software development platform. What's more, the system applied pneumatic technology and modular design method, and developed automotive wiring harness detection system finally.Automotive wiring harness detection system can not only accurate detect fault type of automotive wiring harness, such as open circuit, short circuit, misconnection and so on, but also real-time monitor detecting process, store and print detecting results, auto choose one wiring harness or multi-wiring harnesses detection, and modularized design aimed at different automotive wiring harnesses.According to actual application, this thesis formulated installing and debugging process for the system. Installation each part of the system and debugging pneumatic fixture module and monitoring system, and using specific wiring harness to test the system, testing results shows that the system is stable and reliable, corresponding to the expected goal.
