With the increasing modernization of railway, the popularity of high-speed trains has become a general trend. High speed locomotive running, not only needs high-quality electric locomotive and running line, but also needs a good matching of pantograph-catenary system. Pantograph-catenaries system is the energy supply mechanism of locomotive, its running performance has closely relationship with locomotive's speed and stability. Basically all the electric locomotives are driven by electricity obtained from catenary through pantograph. The reliable current collection of pantograph is an important condition to ensure normal locomotives running.This paper firstly introduces the domestic and overseas research work of the pantograph and coupling relationship of pantograph-centenary system, and gives a brief introduction of the basic multi-body dynamics theory and software Simpack and its applications both in rail-wheel and pantograph-catenary coupling. Secondly, on the basis of establishing pantographs mathematical model, this paper analyzed the geometric movement relations of the pantograph, deduced pantograph s nonlinear differential equation using Lagrange equation and linearized it, and derived pantograph s Newton Euler equation using Newton's law through force analysis of each bar of pantograph framework. Then, static analysis of high-speed pantograph was made. Based on establishing the geometrical relation model of high-speed pantograph frame structure, this paper calculated the collector-head trajectory, driving torque and equivalent mass of a certain type of high-speed pantograph for the rising of pantograph, and analyzed their mutual relation and interaction. Finally, kinetics study of pantograph catenary system was carried out based on the theory of multi-body system dynamics, This paper established three-dimensional solid model of pantograph catenary by using ProE and Ansys software, and then imported them into Simpack (dynamics analysis software of multi-body system) to establish the pantograph-catenary dynamics simulation model and analyze the influences of locomotive speed and the structural parameters of pantograph on contact pressure between pantograph and centenary. In this paper, the dynamic characteristics of pantograph were studied on the basis of the systematical static analysis of the pantograph. The results have certain reference value for research on pantograph-cantenary system coupling simulation.
