The Comparative Research On Vernacular Environment Landscape Of The Dong And Miao Traditional Ethnic Groups In Huaihua

Huaihua used to be regarded as the habitation of the barbarians which is the confluence of the five rivers, it is one of the most concentrative places where the South Minorities stay together. Due to its remote location and steep terrain, Huaihua developed in a relatively slow speed all the time. But just because of this, some ancient settlement views of national characteristics have been integratively reserved here.The Dong and Miao ethnic groups in Huaihua have played an important role in China's prosperous national culture by their ancient and simple settlement views, unique human history and vivid national personality. The research on the endemic views has a significant meaning in protecting the view structure of settlement environment, inheriting Dong and Miao's traditional folk cultures and inspiring the structure of villages and small townships in the new countryside, etc.This essay investigates from three aspects:Firstly, it explores Dong and Miao Minorities' typical methods of staying together and their villages' modality features according to the comparative analysis of natural sights and artificial sights between them. Secondly, through the thorough research on the forming factors of the two minorities' endemic views, it traces the relations of the formation of the two settlements' sights with the national human customs, national conditions and aesthetic views. Finally, by analyzing the existing problems in protecting national settlement views in Huaihua, this paper points out the strategy of sustainable developing themes, from which a conclusion can be drawn:the folk culture based on multi-cultures, traditional beliefs and courtesy musical system, the ecological environment consisted of climate features, living methods and living spaces, and the national aesthetic flavor presented by the national personality, space sequence and natural harmony—these three aspects make a joint influence on the formation of the two minorities' special endemic views. The characteristics of the Dong and Miao shown in the settlement views are as follows:the Dong Minority praised highly of Baiyue race's rice cultivating culture, it has a relatively huge village scale and various kinds of public structure views. While the Miao Minority has been deeply influenced by Sanmiao land-cultivated culture, its village scale is always very small and its accomplishments on public structure arts are not very high either.At last, a revelation can be drawn from the research results of the two minorities' settlement views, which can accelerate the structure of ecological villages and small townships in the modern countryside.
