Studies On The Environmental Design Of Human-oriented Campus

The implementation of China's strategic decisions——"making powerful country through technology and education" led to the boom of new university campus building. However, number of new campus planning was not perfect. The Author takes the questionnaire-analysis method, surveys the new campus of the universities located in Changsha, analyzes the new campus environmental designs, and comes to the reason that designs lie in lack of humanism. In theory, human engineering, environmental psychology, and other related academic knowledge are utilized to explore human-oriented campus planning methods. In practice, the design of new campus of Xi'an petroleum University is surveyed as an example to explore how to create a human-oriented campus environment. The main results are as follows:(1) According to human engineering theory, the Author proposes and uses "man-environment" system model to design human-oriented campus environment. From the experience needs of modern people, the author comes to the campus environment should reflect the natural, cultural and immerse the characteristics of modern educational philosophy; campus planning should take into consideration the location of the prospective environments and minimize the possible damage to the ecosystems and conserve the biological diversities and maximize their natural states; its distinctive and important areas should be fully preserved to reflect the campus'characteristics; environmental education of people, university campus planning and campus environment should fully reflect the characteristics of University, highlight the cultural characteristics of modern universities, and make use of environments to nurture talents; contemporary university campus should conform to the concept of university education, breaking the traditional idea of closed campus. The overall layout should be relatively free and of a free reconstructured space for communication. The overall plan should bear a state of openness; the building layout should show correlations and the development sustainability.(2) The view of space impacts human behavior According to the environmental psychology of the "stress" theory, the author puts forward different places should be designed to be suitable for the needs of various conducts and activities by teachers and students.(3) Example of the human-oriented campus environment design In this paper, embodiment of the design of new campus of Xi'an Petroleum University is exemplified to verify the type of Human-oriented campus environment.Our new campus planning was lacking in a humane atmosphere and environmental design should be human-oriented. We should make full use of campus buildings and outdoor environment of the natural landscape trying not to leave "plan" traces; the study and communication space should be pleasant and display cultural atmosphere as far as possible; pluralistic and open networkings and other modern educational concepts should be employed to create a comfortable and ideal campus for learning and living.
