With the development of times, communications, automotive, power plants, automatic control and other areas are in increasing demand on the battery. However, faced with the development of the mature battery technology for so many years, battery management system development is confronted with enormous challenges.Due to absence of reasonable and effective battery management system, the actual battery life in use is far below the theoretical life , which results in a tremendous waste of resources.In this thesis, the working principles of lead-acid batteries were analyzed for possible reasons. It also describes the causes why the life of lead-acid batteries is shortened. The relevant parameters of the battery are illustrated in detail. This thesis designed the battery online management system. The main feature of the system includes battery data acquisition, intelligent charge and discharge management, central transceiver, USB communication module, the PC module.This thesis begins with the introduction of the battery performance. Management system is proposed to solve the battery program. The cause of the imbalance, failure and the reasons which affect battery life are summarized and concluded. It describes the implementation of the battery management system which includes the design requirements, hardware design, software design and PC system software design. The data acquisition module of battery management system uses the DS2438 chip. The chip forms a single bus and it can directly detect the battery running time. It dynamically measured battery current voltage, temperature, remaining capacity (SOC), the charge and discharge status .UC3906 chip is used, which can make the battery accurate, reasonable and effective intelligent charging. Thereby, battery life can be extended.As the wired network line is complex, it is easy to fail and more difficult to extend maintenance. The system uses the combination of single chip DS2438 and NRF24L01 form wireless sensor networks communicate and the central transceiver. Host computer system via wireless transmission with USB data transfer function, it is easy for secondary processing of data.Host computer software of the system is written by using Delphi 2010, PC software via USB interface to get data from each site, using ADO database engine to automatic classification of data storage.Kalman filter algorithm and the remaining capacity of the battery internal resistance model (SOC) were estimated. Interpolation and fitting with mathematical methods are used to estimate and make statistics and analysis of the battery life. TDBChart control of the Delphi 2010 is used to show the data in curve in real time. Diagnostic analysis by using data on the possible failure, the alarm and danger tips, and the safety of the battery management system can be improved and the efficiency and battery life can also be improved.
