Cooling system is the important parts of the engine. When the air–fuelmixture in a combustion chamber burns, the cylinder temperature can soar to2500℃. The part of heat energy is turned into mechanical energy by the engine.The other must be removed from the engine so that the engine can operateefficiently. If heat energy remains that the engine oil temperature willincrease, affecting engine lubrication. The incoming air-fuel mixture willbecome too hot, making it expand and reduce engine efficiency.So how to make the engine work in a"just-right"temperature is theproblem to research in this paper. This paper is includes the followingcontents:1. Gasoline engine water jacket CFD analysis and improvement scheme.This paper analysis the 3GA6 engine water jacket by CFD,using 3D software Pro/Eestablish engine water jacket geometrical model. The model is meshed by thefront process software ANSA .The number of all mesh is 320 million roughly.And it is simulation calculated by software STAR -CD. This paper analyzes mostlythe 2D and 3D velocity field and temperature field of the engine block andcylinder head. We finds the design limitation exist in initial engine model.Because there is no-velocity part and swilled velocity in the cylinder head.Theflowing velocity is 0.25 m/s in the front of cylinder head.The little part is0.75m/s.The temperature of block is 94℃. And the high temperature of blocklays the segment between the second cylinder and the third cylinder. So weincrease the numbers of hole, which sends the coolant from block to cylinderhead to solve this problem. And this article takes three kinds of improvementplan to solve the problem of block. Lastly we adopt the second plan by simulationcalculated analysis. The flowing velocity of the coolant increases to 0.96 m/s in the cylinder. Thehighest temperature is decreases 4℃in the entire cylinder head. Theconclusion that the simulate compute analyzed of the flow field and velocityfield is reasonable.2. The test platform of the coolant following was established. Firstlywe finds the test platform and finished the test by cooperating with theengineers of the design center of Wuxi.We design 18 points in the cylinder and6 points in the block for measuring temperature in the different working state.Lastly we gain a great deal of useful data, and know the test and the simulationcalculated is right .BY contrasting the simulation and test data, we find thesimulation calculated is reasonable.The most harvest: by the analyzing the structure defective of the waterjacket part and modifying the holes and other scheme draws the most practicalimprovement plan .In order to complete the program, adopted the best project .Sothe engine needs to modify little and fit to engineering and manufacture.
