Air cushion vehicle (ACV) simulator is one of the most effective means of training pilots. As an important component of ACV simulator, the instructional system (IS) provides input controlling and output display of training process simulation. It is an important symbol of advanced extent on ACV simulator. Based on the analysis of system requirements, this paper accomplishes UML modeling and implements some functions of IS. The main tasks are as follows:1. Starting with the manipulate skills and task requirements of operating ACVs, and combining with the internal functions of IS, the function requirements as well as performance requirements of IS have been made clear. Besides, by using Data Flow Diagram (DFD) method, the data interfaces of corresponding functions between IS and other subsystems are determined.2. By using Object-oriented methods, models including use-case model view, structural model view, behavior model view, interaction model and the implementation model view of IS are completed with the help of the Unified Modeling Language (UML). The internal operating mechanism of IS is cleared, which helps constructing the basic framework of this system and then the whole development proposal of IS is determined.3. The control interface between IS and instructors is developed according to the general principles and the particularity of IS interface design. Based on a comprehensive analysis of IS database system, the conception framework design and logic framework design are completed.4. By using Windows Sockets which is found on TCP/IP protocol and Visual Basic.NET language, the communication program between IS and other subsystems is developed on the platform of Visual Studio. NET 2003. Therefore, the transmission of input controlling and reception of real-time data has been realized. According to the characteristics of manipulate simulation, an intelligent evaluation method of ACVs'manipulate simulation is proposed, which is based on grey fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method.
