Tidal power is a kind of renewable energy resources with abundant reserves. Devices development of tidal current power plant, research of key technologies and methods of project implement are very important in energy development and utilization of tidal current power in future. Presently, the tidal current power plant have three forms, which are the floating structures, the seabed piled structures and sit seabed structures. The domestic experimental power plant has basically used the floating structures and sit seabed structures. Carrier of tidal current station, which is the platform for hydraulic turbine and generating units, should satisfies the service requirment of tidal current turbine and survives in extreme sea conditions.A rational structure layout of platform, which is based on the motion and structural analysis on all kinds of extreme loads, is very important to safety of power station.This thesis is base on the Project:"research and demonstration of key technology of tidal current power station". A twin hull platform carried with 300kW straight blade turbine is designed in the paper. This twin hull platform will be moored in the Zhoushan sea area.Catamaran is a particular ship type. Because of its excellence: broad deck, stable navigation, anti-drift performance and so on, catamaran is becoming more and more popular in recent years. More and more engineering ships start to use the twin hull ship as carrier.In this thesis, the concept of twin hull is applied to carrier of tidal current station, and author makes research on structure design, strength analysis and verification on the basis of fluid performance in the previous period. Firstly, the principle dimensions and layout is designed. Then, its Demi-hull is designed as according to Rules for the Classification of Sea-going Steel Ships of CCS. Then the hydrodynamic parameters of a catamaran is calculated made use of software Hydrostar ,and the hydrodynamics of the turbine is calculated on the basis of the stream-tube mode .Finally the strength of a catamaran is calculated made use of software ANSYS in order to verify its strength and provided a reference for the same type twin hull tidal stations.This studies shows that catamaran is a suitable carrier for tidal power plant. It can satisfy the service requirement of 100 KW class tidal current turbine. The research work in the paper provided a reference for design on the same type twin hull tidal stations.
