With the development of technology for transmission lines, the safety has been greatly improved. But the lightning trip phenomenon in the lines but occur gradually evolved to become a threat to the safe operation of the transmission line.For current grounding devices of Jiangxi 220KV transmission line towers on conditions of lightning are not able to meet the performance requirements of safety, the characteristics of impulse grounded resistance of various grounded devices were analyzed. The relationship between the impulse grounded resistance and the lightning current waveform, the relationship between the soil resistivity and the length of radial conductor were given. Some grounded devices suitable for transmission line tower were also put forward.And the new transformation has been completely applied to the 220KV lines from the West of Xinyu to Yuanzhou, which is broken into Wanzai transformer substation. The technical performance and economic indicators of modified grounding devices are greatly improved.
