As the growth of China's social and technological, road transport has become an important pillar of economic development. Various countries vigorously are developing the transportation enterprise, thus triggering a series of issues, mainly the occurrence of traffic accidents. Transport is an integrated environment with people, vehicles, roads and natural factors such as the composition of co-ordination among the various factors impact on each other, inevitably traffic accidents, While China has also invested a great deal of manpower and resources to study the methods to reduce the number of traffic accidents as well as specific treatment measures with certain results achieved.Yunnan Province is in mountainous areas in southwest of China. There is mountains rise and fall with such large changes in topography requires continuous up or down slope. In this long and Steep Downhill road conditions are much more likely a serious traffic accident, endangering people's lives and property. Therefore, a reasonable gradient and slope length can not only effectively overcome the height difference and also can ensure the economic rationality of Highway Engineering.In this paper, starting from the braking performance of heavy-duty vehicles, using finite element software simulation of brake drum temperature changes from the braking capabilities of heavy vehicles, through a simplified physical modeling, the calculation and the results analyzed, summed up the brake drum on the trend of temperature change in order to discuss in the road Because of the heat during the braking performance degradation caused by brake situation. As a basis for further study of highway alignment design in particular, long and Steep Downhill road improvement program, consider the brakes failure in high temperature as a design practical factors.
