The thesis mainly treats the traditional gardens of Suzhou and Beijing as representatives, to make a on-the-spot inspection of total color and key element color. Through photographing and reading literature materials, I adopted the methods of parallel comparison to make conclusions, which achieves the expected result, as follows:First, the research on the comparison of the differences between south and north traditional garden-making color shows that:1) The commonness are,â‘ the natural and semi-natural colors of garden are alike. Although the regional differences have caused the differences of material, it reflected the accordant color property.â‘¡The principle and the way of color collocating are accordant.â‘¢Paid attention to the relationship between color and material.2) The characteristics of south and north traditional garden-making color:â‘ The differences of articulation color are quite obvious. The basic colors of the buildings in private garden on the Yangtze Delta are similar light colors, but the main colors of north royal garden are abundant, strong and bright. The comparison of colors is the highlight of the design.â‘¡The differences of color sensibility. The color of south and north traditional garden are apart made us feel clear, elegant, simplicity, modesty, beautiful differ from magnetic, grandiose, splendid.â‘¢The differences of symbolization. The color system of south private garden symbolized low-key, nobleness and modesty. It has pointed that the color of traditional garden making is affected and localized by target of service, traditional taste and the development of social technology.2) It has summarized the experiences of the affection to the practice of modern color design.3) It has clearly showed that the uptrend of our country's modern garden-making color would be affected by natural alive, region, culture, humanity and fashion trend.
