In recent years, high speed railway develops rapidly in our country because it is fast,safe and comfortable. Its construction and development provide reliable, high-speed and large transport capacity guarantee for us. But high-speed railway traction power supply system is a large capacity, strong impact resistance non-linear load, and it has an influence on the power quality. Especially on our countries power system, the grid of us is not very strong.Based on a electric multiple unit (EMU) simulation model, this paper study on load characteristics of high-speed railway by a study of load modeling of EMU load and traction power supply system modeling. Through these analysis we can provide accurate basis for the planning, operation and control of power system, and adapt to the rapid development of high-speed railway in China. Also this is part of the National Technology Support Program's sub-topic, Quality of High-speed Railway Traction Power Supply.CRH3 and CRH-200's traction drive system is composed of the traction transformer, traction converter and traction electric motor.A model of induction motor paralleling static part was used to establish a mathematical model of the EMUs above. Particle swarm optimization(PSO) and interior point method was used to estimate the parameters of these models.High-speed EMU load is the major component of the high-speed railway traction load. We obtained power supply section's power curves in a trace interval by the results of coupling calculation and train diagram of Jingjin. Based on the data above and the variability of traction network structure, we propose a model of induction motor paralleling exponential model to describe the traction network. According to different numbers of trains running on the power supply section at different times, we model respectively. The example of the power curve fitting results shows that model has a good description of capacity, and it can be used for the researches related.Finally, we design a simple high-speed railway load modeling software by C program. The software includes three modules which named data filter, load modeling and model drawing. This part is actually an integration of the load modeling work above.
