The tower crane structure has such features as Modularization, Stability of topological relations of structure, diversity etc. Discovering a efficient optimization method of tower crane steel structure, which has a good operability and can takie overall stability into account, has important practical significance and theoretical significance.Against the present research situation of the optimization methods of tower crane and present situation of application of ANSYS OPT, a new optimization model and method of tower crane steel structrure is put forward. And corresponding optimization program of luffing jib tower boom is developed, making the optimization model of luffing jib tower boom Modularized and parameterized. The main contents of the study is as follows:This paper refers to a optimization method of tower crane based on Ansys OPT, combined with finite element analysis (FEA) and stability theory, that is the integration of the calibrating of overall stability and single-limb stability of luffing jib tower cranes is realized by extracting some parametes from FEA results, such as weight and axial force. The overall stability and the single-limb stability are constraints of the optimization. The optimization of tower crane steel structure is realized through OPT module.The parameterized optimization model of optimization method for tower crane streel structure is set up; Corresponding program structure which can realized the optimization model is designed; Discretization of design variables, Combination of finite element analysis (FEA) and stability theory and parametrization of non-design variables is realizedTaking the boom of luffing jib tower cranes as the carrier, structural features of luffing jib tower cranes and necessary working conditions being checked in the optimization is analyzed.Optimization program of luffing jib tower boom is developed by using APDL, which can realize the optimization method put forward in this paper. Rapid optimization of the boom of luffing jib tower cranes is realized by the parametrization of non-design variables. Direct reading of optimization results is realized by the discretization of design variables.Finally, the boom of a tower crane with luffing jib is optimized with the optimization program to demonstrate the effectiveness and superiority of the optimization method.
