Large scale of wind farm is installed in the power system more and more, impact of wind power on the power grid is serious. Wind power generations is different from traditional synchronous generating units because most of wind power generations are induction generations with difference characteristic compared with the traditional synchronous generating units. Moreover, the inherent nature of wind speed such as intermittent, random, affect the power flow distribution and power grid stability greatly. Furthermore, the voltage stability of the wind power system is one of the most important problems of grid-connected wind farm. As a result, it's very meaningful to study the voltage stability of wind power.In this paper, two indexes of voltage stability based on measurement data of phase measurement unit(PMU) are gained, which reflect the relations between node active power and phase angle, and the relations between reactive power and voltage respectively. Aimed at New England 39-bus system, influence of synchronization of wind farm to the voltage stability of wind power is analyzed, wind power penetration limit of single node and the whole wind power penetration limit are calculated, and the two kinds of penetration limit are compared and analyzed, using the two indexes of voltage stability. Moreover, based on practical situation of the Northeast, the influence of adding synchronization capacity of wind farm, the single wind power penetration limit and the whole penetration limit of some maim wind farms are calculated, using these indexes. Then, a reasonable var compensation method is advanced. The method can improve the wind power penetration limit and provides some reference for practical power system planning.Because the wind farm, installed in the power system, make against voltage stability of system, it's significant to determine reasonable wind power penetration limit for stability and economy of system. Considering voltage stability constraint, the voltage stability can be reflected efficiently, the synchronization can be optimized, and the receiving ability of power system can be improved by importing the two indexes of voltage Finally, the short-circuit current, the transient recovery voltage, the secondary arc and the stability. The index can be used to offer voltage stability forecast data for administrator department of power running, and direct wind power attemper.
