Spiroid worm-gear drive was widely used in heavy machinery, agricultural machinery, and military fields. It has a compact structure, high transmission ratio, strong shock resistance, smooth transmission, and many other advantages. However, the common spiroid worm-gear drive has a number of shortcomings that limit its wider application. At present, the main form of worm gear is Archimedean spiral worm gear. Its tooth surface distorts along the rectilinear normal and can't be unfolded. Its design and manufacture are also relitively complex, and they are completed based on the approximate need. The high precision grinding need embellish grinding wheel, which is difficult and complicated. And the processed drive is difficult to up to the precision in theory, which limits their performance.To simplify the design, principle and manufacture methods of bias worm drive, this paper presents a concept of double lead beeline contact spiroid worm gearing. Double lead beeline contact spiroid worm gearing based on the theory of space intersecting axle shaft gear drive, its bilateral tooth drive equal to the inner and the outer gear engagement transmission of cylindrical gear wheel, respectively. Worm wheel double tooth surface is composed of involute helicoid developed from the base cylinder with different radius, and the corresponding worm tooth surface is also the involute helicoids expanded through different base cylinder. Double lead beeline contact spiroid worm gearing have the profile tooth with the bias involute, and the worm and worm gear instant access to contact state as a straight line. Both the worm and worm wheel tooth surface are cylindrical involute helicoidsl. So Its structure design is simplified greatly, and its theoretical tooth surface can be completed accurately only using the existing machine tools and simple processing methods, which has strong economic suitability.The main research contents and research results:1. Expounded the basic principles of Double lead beeline contact spiroid worm gearing transmission;2. Designed the Double lead beeline contact spiroid worm gearing;3. Solid Modeling for the Double lead spiroid worm a beeline contact gearing;4. The force deputy of the tooth surface conditions, meshing speed, transmission efficiency and self-locking conditions of the Double lead spiroid worm gearing with a beeline contact was analyzed. According to the performance analysis, structural parameters can be reasonable adjustments to optimize the structural design of the transmission, which established theoretical basis for future transmission experiments.5. Study and introduces some common manufacturing methods, such as the tooth surface milling, cutting theory with the Fly cutting, turning and other methods. Under the existing experimental conditions, we machined the worm use turning method and then hobbing out the worm gear.This kind of worm drive have simple configuration and simple transmission principle, in addition to have other advantages of worm gearing. So, it can be designed and processed easily; and because the tooth surface contact with instantaneous contact state is linear, so it have a greater carrying capacity.The principle of this kind double lead beeline contact spiroid worm gearing is correct, and configuration is principle simple; This kind worm-gearing are designed by correct and simple method, and the method of processing manufacturing is simple, feasible. It have drive with smooth movement, self-locking advantages like traditional worm-gearing, and also have the following advantages:The single grade transmission ratio can reach more than 400; It has large carrying capacity because the instantaneous contact Meshing gears are over 10% of the worm gear tooth, and with a line contact; The transmission efficiency can reach 90% because the angle of tooth face relative velocity and instantaneous contact line is close to 90°, the lubrication conditions is beyond ordinary worm transmission; It can use nonmetallic material or steel replace copper, save precious metals. Therefore, this paper studies the double lead beeline contact spiroid worm gearing has good application prospect.
