The development method of the occupant restraint system mainly includes test and computer simulation. Test needs long cycle, high cost. With the development of computer technology, computer simulation is playing a more and more important role, and the method which combines test and computer simulation together is used more frequently.MADYMO is a kind of occupant injury rating software. When using MADYMO for optimization of occupant restrain system, the combinations of parameters should be edited in the calculation documents of MADYMO, and then documents are simulated in MADYMO, when calculation is over, the result files should be processed, the injury values are extracted and copied in the excel, finally the injury data is rated. If all the works need to be done for tens or even hundreds of times, physical labor becomes the main work, most of all, during the simulation of MADYMO, the workers should always observe the process of calculating, and when the calculating is over, the new data should be edited, it will not only error-prone, and can not improve efficiency.To solve the problems during the occupant restraint system simulation optimization, this paper proposed to design fast solution procedure and rapid assessment of occupant injury procedure. Firstly, the MADYMO calculation files were edited and saved after the parameters are adjusted, all the files would be simulated without the observation of workers. Secondly, after the simulation, the injury values were extracted in bulk and rated in the design of the request of workers, the best results were determined. Finally, the development process of a vehicle occupant restraint system were taken to be an example, the process of MADYMO modeling and verification were briefly described, the fast solution procedures and fast rating procedure were used to achieve fast optimization of the vehicle occupant restraint system, and the method were compared to the traditional optimization method, which reflects its strengths, and the lack of points were also analyzed. The paper explored simulation and optimization processes of the occupant restraint system, proposed fast optimization method of occupant restraint system, developed fasting solution procedure and fast rating procedure based on MADYMO, the method can make MADYMO calculate automatically, extract injury data of MADYMO, and rate the results. This paper had practical significance for the research of optimal process of the occupant restraint system simulation.
