High-voltage transmission lines are the arteries of power system. Damage of transmission lines forced by extraneous force destroying, meteorological hazards and aging of line poses a great threat to security and stability of the grid. Monitoring data of transmission line conductor by remote on-line monitoring technology can reflect real-time operational status of transmission lines as well as warn the line faults timely. So it can protect the safe operation of power grid effectively. The data from monitoring also can be applied in research of dynamic line rating to resolve lack of electrical energy and capacity of transmission line restricted.Based on analyzing high-voltage transmission conductor on-line monitoring technology home and abroad, conductor compositive on-line monitoring scheme of mearsuring temperature and inclination of conductor so as to calculation sag, tension, and load of conductor combining with line parameter and meteorological information is proposed. Conductor compositive on-line monitoring device based on high-voltage transmission line on-line monitoring system is designed. After analysis and comparison, schemes of using solar cell and Li-ion battery series to supply monitoring terminal, selecting 433MHz RF module for communication between terminal and host, as well as choosing IC temperature sensor and MEMS accelerometer angle sensor are proposed. The hardware and software of monitoring device are designed. So it realizes collocting at fixed times, storing, and uploading of the temperature and inclination data of conductor. The performance of monitoring device is tested under laboratory conditions. The results indicated that the power supply for the terminal is stable; the accuracy of temperature and inclination measurement is able to fulfill monitoring requirements; the communication system is reliable; and the monitoring device has a high running stability. Finally, the calculation method for sag, tension, and load data of conductor is reachered, the monitoring data used in icing covoring and dynamic line rating is analysed, and the programme for such calculation is writed.The proposed scheme of high-voltage transmission conductor on-line monitoring is advanced and practicable. The conductor monitored combining with video information, meteorological data, and tower parametric monitored by high-voltage transmission line on-line monitoring system can response the comprehensive running status of transmission lines. Based on the monitoring message, operators can adjust the operation way scientificly and rationally. So it can minimize the frequency of failure as well as improve the utilization of power transmission equipment effectively.
