With the rapid development of industrial design, design methods with low cost and high efficiency have gained increasing attention. The appearance of CAD technology and virtual prototype technology just follows this trend. Parametric design is regarded as the essence of CAD technology, and the proposal of parametric design largely decreases the workload of designers, especially the repeated workload on design, calculation and plotting, and increases the product development efficiency. Virtual prototype technology is a new product development method, which can help designers finish some simulation experiment before the physical prototype is produced, find and modify the design defects of products in time, so as to shorten development cycle, reducing development cost and improving product performance.According to known vehicle parameters and the research on related theory, and based on parametric design method and virtual prototype technology, this paper finishes the design and calculation of the parameters for each component of the differential, and program processes the calculation with Visual Basic language. This paper uses CATIA related modules to realize the parametric modeling of each component of the differential, makes internal connection and correlated connection of all the dimensions, finishes the assembly of the differential, and constrains the position relationship of all the components; and then compiles the interactive interface with Visual Basic language, embeds the computer program into the background, and realizes the modification, update and save of the data in CATIA data table. In this way, the differential parametric design program with interactive interface is produced, and users can reconstruct the differential rapidly only with changing the related vehicle parameters according to their needs. And then, they can insert the produced differential model into ADAMS, make related dynamic and kinematic simulation of the model. This paper mainly included the simulation analysis of straight driving condition and turning driving condition, studied the validity and correctness of the design, verified related theory of the differential.
