Ice navigation, what is paid close attention recently, becomes increasingly more and more important activity in the actual navigation. So the ice navigation simulator what is practical is of great significance for seaman training and research & assessment. The purposes of this thesis are researching on visualization of ice navigation, providing some basic theory and making them come true.According to MSC/Circ.1056-MEPC/Circ.399 from IMO(International Maritime Organization), "Guidance regarding training of masters and officers for ships operating in polar waters" from DE 52/53(IMO Sub-Committee on Ship Design and Equipment) and additional requirement what belongs to "Additional requirements for simulators intended for training in ice navigation" from "Standard for Certification 2.14, Maritime Simulator Systems (2011)" of DNV(DET NORSKE VERITAS),basing on currently existing research of Marine Simulation and Control lab of Dalian Maritime University, author attempts to design and implement a system what could provide visualization of ice navigation.The purpose of this paper is to acquire the method what is practical modeling and visualizing of ice navigation scene by the research on the ice navigation simulator.The work of this paper involves:a) According to current research status of ice navigation simulator, this paper has analyzed the basic structure and function of ice navigation and expounded the basic models what simulation of ice navigation needs.b) Referring to the Koch Curve of fractal algorithm, this paper has analyzed and modeled the sea ice, achieved the visualization of broken ice what can float in the wave.c) Applying the Cohen-Sutherland Algorithm of Computer Graphics to collision detection between ice and contour of ship, this paper has achieved collision detection between ice and ship in the visualization of ice navigation.d) Utilizing the 3D Scene Management Software, this paper has programmed the visualization of sea ice and verified the referring algorithms above.
