Parking is gradually becoming a tough problem, which effects the development of China's major cities'economy. Even though there has been many newly-built parking lots, people still have to spend lots of time finding suitable parking space because of the imperfection of the current parking guidance system, which not only results in traffic jams but also wastes a great deal of time. The intelligent parking guidance system is an effective way to solve the problem of parking. The urban parking guidance system is a key part of the intelligent transportation system(ITS), which is an integrative system based on the vehicle autonomous positioning technology, the geographic information system and database technology, the computer technology, the multimedia technology and the modern communication technology.As the sensor technology of "the internet of things" develops, urban transportation is growing into a "new generation of intelligent transportation". As a new technology which is an integration of the short-range wireless communication technology, microelectronics sensors and the embedded system technology, the wireless sensor network is gradually used in the new intelligent transportation system and other relevant fields requiring data acquisition and detection, bringing about a completely new update to all aspects of the urban transportation.This paper at first describes the related concepts and technologies of "the transportation net of things", then analyses the characteristics and disadvantages of the current urban parking guidance system and proposes a new set of parking guidance system based on the technology of "The Internet of Things". It also shows the system model and the implementation of the program, points out the key supporting technologies of the system and designs the data table structure used in this system. What's more, it emphatically analyzes and puts forward the selection algorithm of the optimal parking space, discusses the basic principle and implementation process of the algorithm, and finally demonstrates the practical significance of the algorithm in the parking guidance system through the simulation.
