30s of 19th century, with the introduction of the concept of urban fringe in urban morphology, many people increasingly realize the importance of urban fringe. However, owing to the rapid process of urbanization, open spaces in urban fringes are severely eroded and the ecological environment is seriously deteriorated. Therefore, the issue of conservation has become a key to controlling the urban sprawl, the protection of landscape resources between city and countryside and the species diversity. In China, the conservation of urban fringe includes a large number of complex parts. The types of land and landscape are various and geographical features are apparent, but the natural ecological environment is of great vulnerability. Also, the planning and patterns of management are still in the stage of exploration. Recently, due to the impact of successful country park pattern in Hong Kong, there is a tendency to combine open spaces of ecological roles and meaningful structures with public landscape resources of high value. However, the pattern turns into a means of implementation which has the most prospects. Country parks not only could be regarded as boundaries which inhibit the disorder growth of cities, but also could contribute to the intensive use of land resources. Ultimately, they aim to achieve to restore the ecological and attractive abilities of urban fringes. The thesis analyses the objective progress of formation and development of urban fringe and the reasons why fringes are eroded and open landscape resources are destroyed and vanish. As a starting point of country park pattern, in accordance with the principle of natural value priority, it has a good understanding of the contents involved the protection of landscape resources in urban fringes. Meanwhile, it constructs the evaluation system of open landscape resources and on the basis of this builds the evaluation Index System of Country Park. The thesis studies the protection and effective use of natural resources through the master planning.
