The concrete which was uniformly distributed with a certain amount of basalt fiber can be called BFRC for short. It has effect of basalt fiber on crack resistance and reinforcement. Professor Wu Zhongwei predicted that it is composite that an important way to high performance of cement-based composite materials and fiber reinforced is the core. Now, the study on flexural performance of basalt fiber reinforced concrete beams is few. It has a series excellent performance of basalt fiber which is natural silicate fibers and it is natural compatibility with concrete. It has important meaning of the study on flexural performance of basalt fiber reinforced concrete beams.In order to research the influence of basalt fiber on the flexural performance such as ultimate bearing capacity, the cracking moment, the crack and deflection of the reinforced concrete beams, four basalt fiber reinforced concrete beams with the key parameters of length and volume ratio were designed and made. The fiber lengths were 12mm and 30mm, and the volume ratios were 0.1% and 0.2%. The test data through the bending experiment and the comparison with the common reinforced concrete beam were obtained.The result shows that, the cracking moment and the ultimate bearing capacity were increased with the improvement of tensile strength of concrete by the incorporation of basalt fiber. The basalt fiber reinforced concrete beams showed more obvious nature of the ductile failure owing to a large deformation when the beams were destroyed. The reinforcement stress was decreased because the tensile stress in the section of the crack was shared by the reinforcement and basalt fiber. So the crack width was reduced and the overall stiffness of the beams were improved. It is more notable of the improvement of the performance with the growing of basalt fiber characteristic parameters.With the test data and the theoretical analysis, the calculation method of the cracking moment, the ultimate bearing capacity, the crack maximum width and the short-term stiffness of the basalt fiber reinforced concrete beams were presented based on the method of plain concrete beam, which can provide the theoretical basis for the engineering practice.
