Evaluation On The Effect Of Urban Rail Transit Operating For Alleviating Road Traffic Congestion

In recent years, as the amount of the vehicles increases rapidly, the situation of the urban traffic congestion becomes more serious. In order to alleviate the urban road traffic congestion, many cities focus on developing the urban rail transit. However, the construction of the urban rail transit has characteristics as follows:long construction period, high cost of constructing and operating, so the evaluation of the operating effect becomes essential. While doing evaluation on the operating effect, it's important to estimate the impact of the urban rail transit on alleviating the traffic congestion, which means a lot to the construction of the urban rail transit.In this thesis, the condition of the road traffic in the area influenced by operating urban rail transit is chosen as the object to be studied, and the method of the index evaluation and traffic simulation are separately being applied to studying the effect that operating urban rail transit has on road traffic. The specific work needs to be done is as follows:Firstly, based on the research on the theories of traffic survey, the method of referring to the historical data and doing the field surveys is being chosen as the way to collect the data that the thesis needs, which contains the passenger flow volume that the urban rail transit undertakes and the basic data of the road traffic in the affected area.Secondly, on the basis of the theories of the evaluation methods on the traffic congestions, the reasonable evaluating index is being put forward, the evaluating index system is being built up, and the complex method of Analytic Hierarchy Process-Grey TOP SIS Ranking Method is selected as the method of evaluating the effect that operating urban rail transit has on alleviating road traffic congestion.Thirdly, based on analyzing the characteristics of the object being studied, the simulation software VIS SIM is used to simulating the studied area's traffic condition by building the simulation platform and evaluating the condition of the road traffic congestion.At last, empirical research has been taken on Subway Line.15 in Beijing. After doing the analysis and comparison on the traffic data which represent the traffic conditions before and after the time of operating Subway Line 15, the traffic conditions of the affected area are analyzed by using the methods of constructing the index system to evaluate the traffic congestion and the simulating technology separately, and then compare the conditions of the traffic congestion in the two periods in the road sections and the area.The result of the thesis is to provide the basic methods and suitable technology supports for evaluating the effect that operating urban rail transit has on alleviating the road traffic congestion.
