The Balance Between "Small" Vehicle And "Big" Space In Automotive Design

With the rapid development of economy, the auto output and holdings are increasing year by year, and this trend is irreversible, which leads to urban traffic congestion, pollution, energy crisis problem getting worse. So in the present, auto miniaturization becomes one of feasible methods to ease this series of questions and vigorously development of small vehicle becomes a trend. But the people's pursuit of space is also dedicated. And "large" space becomes an obstacle to the development of "small" vehicle. So if you can handle the balance between "small" vehicle and "big" space reasonably, you will be able to remove the obstacles behind the trend of auto miniaturization. Then finding the solutions of balance between "small" vehicle and "big" space from the perspective of automotive design is my purpose of writing this thesis.Through the explanation of "small" vehicle and "big" space and the research of the relationship of them, we know "small" vehicle and "big" space is a pair of mutual restraint and mutually reinforcing relationship. And we also know the sense of vehicle's space is key factor in balancing "small" vehicle and "big" space. Then I find the elements which affect the sense of space, such as automotive exterior design, automotive interior design, new materials, new technology, color, and detail design, and how they affect the sense of space from the perspective of automotive design. After that, at first based on aesthetic principles, I discuss how to handle the vehicle exterior design, interior design, new materials, new technology, color, and detail design in the automotive design from the perspective of theory; second based on car design examples, I find the solution of balance between "small" vehicle and "big" space through the research of Space Up Blue and BB1's design. After the analysis of theory and practice, I summarize ten methods of the treatment of balance between "small" vehicle and "big" space. At last, under the guidance of the methods, I discuss the future small vehicle's design, which based on my own design. Through my design I can rethink the method of handle the "small" vehicle and "big" space, and then I get a deeper understanding of the balance of "small" vehicle "big" space.Because the automotive design is more emotional and must meet people's need, so it must have some rational factors. Then in dealing with the balance between "small" vehicle and "big" space, we should have some basis and law. Based on the analysis of this paper, I summarize ten methods of the treatment of balance between "small" vehicle and "big" space, hoping makes some contribution to the small car design.According to the present social and environment circumstances, the small cars will become a trend in the future, because they are energy saving and environmental protection. But the pursuit of space becomes an obstacle to rapid development of small cars. The innovation of this paper is to find the reasons for the obstacle to development of small cars, and then use the method of aesthetic principles and design practice combined together to summed up the handling of the balance of "small" vehicle and "big" space. Based on the methods, the obstacle behind the development of small car can be removed, which can make an effort to the environment. However, the development of small vehicle depends on various industries' effort, and I would like to make my own exploration and effort to achieve this purpose.
